The Italian Way from DK Publishing, an imprint of Penguin Random House, is a celebration of everything we love about Italy, from art and architecture to food and family life. Their amazing art director, Gemma Doyle, reached out about designing a travel book with a “vintage Italian packaging design” theme. I’m so grateful she did because I had just returned from Italy, and my brain was buzzing with inspiration from the trip. That experience 100% influenced this design, from the door shapes I saw to the tiles, sculptures, and building embellishments.
