The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf | LA Brew and LA Espresso

I had the great opportunity to help The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf share its Southern California history through a new line of coffee packaging designs called LA Brew and LA Espresso. Since 1963, The Coffee Bean has been roasting and creating specialty coffee blends. Their team wanted to pay homage to LA through the lens of old Hollywood and the art deco signage seen throughout the city. What came from that is a minimalist design that incorporates sun rays and orange tones inspired by sunny days and the California poppy. I drew a lot of influence from past Art Deco signage that can be seen in building signage throughout LA, which inspired the main typeface, and I also included copy to highlight the passion that comes from their in-house roasters.
