I've Got My Eye on You
Happy Monday everyone! I thought I’d jot down a few things I’ve had my eye on the past few weeks. This might be the girliest post I’ve ever done so ladies hold on to your skirts and let’s go!
• Cocktail concoctions from Mister Boffin
• These linen iphone cases from Star Creature Studio
• My friend Kellie and I made these ‘Dark Brown Sugar Coconut Oil...

Year 28 and The Birthday Project
In 5 days I turn 28 years old. When I have a birthday, I usually go all out. Go big or go home is my birthday motto. Remember this? I also share this special day with the holiday Cinco de Mayo. I’m still not sure what we’re actually celebrating but all I know is that I love a good margarita and can down any basket of tortilla chips in front of me.
Thanks to pinterest, it makes birthday...

Reusable Bag Design
I entered Kroger’s Reusable Bag Design Contest. I have no idea how to share the link to my design to ask for your votes! Instead, I’ll just leave it here and maybe Kroger will find me on the world wide web and send me that $1000 gift card? A girl can dream!

Web Logging
I wish I could tell my 2003 self that in the future, if you want friends, to never use the phrase ‘web log’ again.
We All Go Through This
A few moments ago our intern asked me for post graduation advice. The only words that came out of my mouth were “become a nanny and apply to as many jobs as possible”. What’s wrong with me? That was terrible advice. What I should have said was this:
Thank you Ira Glass for always having the right words to say at the right moment.

DIY Raised Garden Beds
Happy official Spring friends! A couple weekends ago I put on my work clothes and built our raised garden bed. I thought I’d share with you some of the steps I took to create my square foot gardening bed and the tools I used along the way. I am by no means a skilled carpenter so lets just pretend you can hear my woman power roaring through this post with my power drill in hand and obliging...

Daily Rituals
“Design can influence the way we behave and feel. It not only reflects our values, but can affect and shape the way we live. Crawford is fascinated by design that can provide a frame for life, one that connects on a human level and makes all events, no matter how small, matter.” - Ilse Crawford, designer

New Music: Lucius
Happy new music Tuesday! After we’re all done spinning the new Justin Timberlake album, I suggest taking a minute to listen to the band Lucius’ EP. (Thanks to Daniel Ellsworth for this find!) Think 60’s girl pop, a great backing band and the best wardrobe.
Who wouldn’t want to be friends with them? If you’re in Nashville, come see Lucius play at the High Watt...

Square Foot Gardening
Springtime is arriving in Nashville which means my dreams of having a nice garden are in overdrive. For the past couple of years I’ve experimented with several different ways of gardening. We had an in-ground 15ft garden with rows (damn you weeds), container gardening (everything died) and now I’m venturing into raised beds with square foot gardening. I’m hoping this will be my...

50 Hours in NYC
This past weekend my wonderful friend Amanda and I went to New York City for 50 quick hours. She attended and presented at a nutrition conference while I bopped around the city visiting a few friends, went to a play, and ran in Central Park. We also ate our way through NYC in those 50 hours and it was incredible. Here are a few snapshots I took with my phone on this super quick trip!

Free MadMen Party Supplies
For my birthday last year, we threw a MadMen themed party. Everyone came dresses as their best Don and Betty Draper (RIP) and we ate super unhealthy 1960’s food like pigs in the blanket and fruitcake. Since season 6 is coming upon us in April, I thought I’d share a few free printables for you to use at your own MadMen themed viewing party. (Everyone is doing this, right?!)

Thyme Chicken Truffle Oil Pizza with Caramelized...
Last night was a night where I definitely didn’t want to go to the store but was bound determined to make a ‘City House’ fancy pizza. I improvised with what I had in my fridge and came up with what might just be my new favorite pizza!
Directions:
• Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
• Start by slicing the 2 white onions and begin caramelizing them. Stir often. This will take around 30...

A 1920's Love Story
Each month Nashville hosts the most amazing flea market at the fairgrounds. My mom and I happened to come across this 1920’s photo album and found the most precious love story. The vender went on to tell us the couple started a bow and arrow manufacturing company in Arkansas and traveled the world.
This is their proposal story.
The Pinterest vs Thrift Store Challenge
A year ago I found the prettiest photo of a lady in a mustard yellow pencil skirt and a black blouse. I’ve been hoping to replicate this look ever since! This past Monday I finally found the yellow skirt I’ve been looking for at a local thrift store for 50% off making the grand total…$1.
Lately I’ve started actually looking at my pinterest boards in those frantic...
Collage Town
Ashlie Chavez creates collages that I like to imagine my dreams look like. Unfortunately my dreams mostly consist of past jr. high locker buddies mixed with driving around in circles. Let’s get back to what’s important. These very interesting collages. I would also like to think perhaps I could create something like this but my attempt at homemade Valentine’s Day cards last...

New Things
Sometimes all it takes is a nice President’s Day off and some sunshine to make life a little bit more exciting. I spent part of the day using this great Martha Stewart home cleaning checklist that actually didn’t make me want to throw in my rubber gloves and call it a day.
Let me backup, cleaning is not exciting. I got carried away. Let’s get on with the good stuff.

One Life Changing Mile
Today is a very special day! Today marks the start of Blood:Water Mission’s 40 Days of Water campaign. There are moments in life when you experience events that can change your life forever. For me that moment happened in Lira, Uganda.
It was a bright September day when our Blood:Water caravan arrived to a tiny village outside of Lira. As we pulled into the field full of sunflowers, we were...
